讀過《Istanbul: Memories and the City》那本迴憶散文集，從中知道他少年時瘋狂讀書的經曆。這個經曆讓他首先成為一個讀者，從讀者的角度分析小說，於是十分親切。帕慕剋和我們一起談讀小說時候腦子是怎麼轉的，怎麼想的，然後發展到自己寫小說時候的如何注意這些。無論他談小說的人物/時間還是中心，還是他引用席勒的naive and sentimental為全書基本論點，還是他很強烈地意識到小說作為一種西方現代傳統的問題，都並沒有特彆的理論，甚至完全不理論性，而是非常個人化，是一個熱愛小說的讀者，順便寫寫小說的作者，和你促膝長談，和你交流意見。讀完之後，會讓我使壞說，那麼就讓我來讀一讀你的小說吧！但也確實想讀一下他的小說呢。
