非常暖心的一本兒童小說。由於基因問題而天生麵貌迥異於常人的August, 在10歲的時候第一次去普通的學校讀書。帶著忐忑不安和按捺不住的興奮和期許，August 認識瞭許多新朋友。而這些“新朋友”就像是一個個縮小的社會人，影射著人與人之間的矛盾，衝突，理解和支持。在麵臨朋友的“背叛”時，August 首先想到的是討厭學校，是逃避。他的姐姐Via說，“ unless you want to be treated like a baby the rest of your life, or like a kid with special needs, you just have to suck it up and go." 勇氣和成長是一生的話題，需要不斷的學習和努力，纔能成為想要變成的人。

Wonder，這本小說能讓看得人相信纔是真正的Wonder。很多的轉摺都讓人奇怪，沒有過程描述，Miranda和Via突然好瞭。但是這還敵不上主角本身的光環。首先原來不喜歡他的Jack突然覺得他不錯，然後所有人突然都不支持欺負他（書中隻用幾句話說明這一情況），還很有義氣地挺身而齣，更可怕的是最後毫無顧忌地與他拍照……當然via一段自白實在是太經典瞭！
