看完這本紀實小說，再迴憶年初的奧斯卡題名“The Impossible”。兩個真實故事，本書作者失去瞭父母丈夫和小孩，自己卻幸免遇難，後者一傢五口全部生還且毫無傷殘。命運殘酷無情且毫無公平可言。

現實或說自然可以非常殘酷，比如作者Sonali Deraniyagala所遭遇的，在2004年的南亞海嘯中，她失去瞭丈夫、孩子和雙親，自己卻奇跡般的生還，幾乎想象不齣還有比這更大的傷痛。迴憶錄Wave讓人感受到瞭文字的力量和堅強，讓人相信書寫真的是可以抵禦死亡和消逝，可以帶來重生。

雖作者終究（不得不）走齣瞭悲哀，但在走齣之前對悲哀一遍又一遍的細細咀嚼，對於旁的人來說，總是會覺得麻木以至於厭煩的。

這不是一本輕鬆的書，因為死亡嚮來冰冷，獨自存活尤其可怕。對於Sonali來說，她可能寜願海嘯把自己也吞沒。她跟英國丈夫帶著兩個兒子迴娘傢過聖誕，可是災難襲來毫無預兆，她在巨浪中失去瞭所有至親。在讓人窒息的災難過後，她奇跡般活瞭下來，可她的人生已經成瞭灰色。在書的前三分之一，我整顆心都是揪著的，恐懼、痛苦、愧疚、仇恨、消沉如幽靈不肯散去；自我催眠和恢復階段，是最摺磨人的一部分，如同吸毒者不斷反復；當然因為有瞭最後的尋找迴憶和自我救贖，這本書變得彌足珍貴，因為作者拯救的不隻有自己，還有麻木太久的我和你。

字字如作者在泣血。父母、丈夫、兒子都在海嘯中去世，留下自己一人苟活，這不是幸運，這是被詛咒的人。全書沒有目錄、沒有標題，其實寫這樣一種迴憶，誰又會有心情靜下來去整理一個目錄，然後再給每個部分起一個標題呢？拒絕接受現實、尋死，一直到最後坦然接受，或許這是每個受傷的心靈都必須經過的路程吧。
