兩年前曾經課上閱讀過的著作。不過，這種非分析性政治理論的一大特點就都是，詞匯用的非常大，非經驗性取嚮，而且充滿瞭隱喻或者metaphor的倫理。的確，這一類的學者在政治學學部邊緣化，也並非完全不可理解。

Pettit的這本書是跟著這學期的Social and Political Seminar一起讀完的。對於個人的閱讀體驗和知識構成來講，共和主義算是一種新的傳統。全書主要有兩個亮點：一個是提齣用freedom of non-dimination作為共和主義的根基，但這第三種自由是否在經典的自由主義當中沒有論及是值得質疑的；另一個點反對羅爾斯的整全性正義，區分瞭social justice和political justice（political legitimacy），並提齣瞭一套相應的民主理論，但個人覺得對於可能的反對意見處理不夠，大部分論述都是自我建構。
