He discusses film and stage performances, actors of the Hamlet role as well as directors of the play; his account of scholarship stresses the role of remembering and forgetting in the play, and the impact of feminist and performance studies.

1969年版，正文不過一百三十頁而已，但注釋簡介很多。因為短，姑且中英對照著看------簡直是場鬧劇！真為ophelia心痛！總是女性角色和小人物動人！像laertes死前原諒hamlet，也求得他的原諒，這一點好像很重要。感覺現代性已初露端倪。------隻看瞭正文，介紹和注釋都沒仔細看

真是充滿狂氣的劇本啊，看瞭這本書，我和文化人也能談笑風生瞭

《哈姆雷特》曾兩次給我沉重的打擊，第一次是發現我自己完全代入Hamlet的時候，第二次是發現並不是所有人（甚至不是多數人）都會代入他的時候。比如對我來說Hamlet在Ophelia墓前挑釁Laertes是最虐的段落之一，但肯定很多人隻會覺得他讓人反感（which好像也是事實）
