The novel portrays the experiences that bring this child from a world of innocence into one of reality. An interesting novel that portrays the life of a Southern farmer very well, A Painted House has found much acclaim within the literary community.

差不多已經讀瞭三分之二，這部小說不象GRAISHAM其它的小說那樣寫法律相關的內容，故事結構亦不很引人入勝，到象是作者的自傳，對自己對兒童時期的迴憶，看的時候想一直在想自己小時候的事情，總是拿著書中的情節跟自己比較，兒時總是對很多事情充滿好奇心，書中有幾個情節印象...

Farm life in a 7-year old boy's eyes.Simple, straightforward, makes you want to live in a farmland for the honest and peace life.

The ending is not as satisfying, but I guess that's life - not everything has an ending. Reading it reminds me of life in villages, and yes it was like that and It is still kind of like that in a way in rural part of China - guess there isn't that much of cultural gap. Anyway, great read and I feel like I lived among the characters in the story.

受福剋納影響。嚴肅的嘗試反而有點適得其反。

確實有點像在描寫作者7歲那年的自己，如果不是有那樣的生活應該也不會有那樣細膩的描寫吧，對於生活在中國的童鞋們來說，這個書平淡中帶著生動，幾個小高潮交錯迭起，令人意外，祖孫關係、父子關係、婆媳關係、勞資關係、地下戀情、棒球、仇殺、私生子，這些關鍵詞，這本書裏全都能找到哈。
