John Keats

John Keats (1795-1821) is one of the greatest English poets and a key figure in the Romantic Movement. He has become the epitome of the young, beautiful, doomed poet. He wrote, among others, 'The Eve of St Agnes', 'La Belle Dame Sans Merci', 'Ode to a Nightingale' and 'To Autumn'. The group of five odes, which include 'Ode to a Nightingale', are ranked among the greatest short poems in the English language.

Keats's first volume of poems, published in 1817, demonstrated both his belief in the consummate power of poetry and his liberal views. While he was criticized by many for his politics, his immediate circle of friends and family immediately recognized his genius. 小孩们整天把邻居大叔叫爷爷..人家还不到50岁.不想为了这点小事情纠正他们但又觉得大叔好惨...所以不好意思推辞 昨天和他们几个朋友去东庄海岸..摘抄了点keats..这本书陆续看了3年 今天早上终于看完了。

有些艺术家我一喜欢，就喜欢他们的全部作品，感觉有某种connection 。 Schubert算一个， Keats 算一个。 唉，为什么浪漫主义者都死的这么早? 或许死的晚就不符合他们的时代精神了吧。 Keats 目前是我最喜欢的诗人(在很长一段时间里不会被取代)。1819年他才24岁! (不可思议，能写出 1819 odes ) 我太喜欢他诗中贯穿始终的悲观情绪，但那并不是无病呻吟，他完全有理由那么悲观，那样迷恋死亡。(Schubert 也是如此) 我只是为他生命的短暂感到可惜。他的梦想是成为最伟大的诗人，我想(个人观点)，即使他只活了25岁，即使他生前没有享受到应有的评价 (拜伦对他的评价让我很愤恨)，在今天看来，他确实做到了。
