Krakauer, a contributing editor to Outside and Men's Journal, retraces McCandless's ill-fated antagonism toward his father, Walt, an eminent aerospace engineer. Krakauer also draws parallels to his own reckless youthful exploit in 1977 when he climbed Devils Thumb, a mountain on the Alaska-British Columbia border, partly as a symbolic act of rebellion against his autocratic father. I always miss Alex, admire him, jealous of him. If you can let all the belongings be away, you are free, if you're free, you can get everywhere. This book i read on my way to be a backpacker around Southeast Asia, it led me to meet my love, both of us started our own trip since reading this book. it's a kinda fate i guess.
