道格拉斯·理查·郝夫斯颱特（Douglas Richard Hofstadter，1945年2月15日－），中文名侯世達，美國學者、作傢。他的主要研究領域包括意識、類比、藝術創造、文學翻譯以及數學和物理學探索。 因其著作《哥德爾、埃捨爾、巴赫》獲得普立茲奬（非小說 類彆） 和美國國傢圖書奬（科學類彆）。

侯世達是美國印第安納大學文理學院認知科學傑齣教授，主管概念和認知研究中心。他本人和他輔導的研究生組成“流體類推研究小組”。1977年，侯世達原本屬於印第安納大學的計算機科學係，然後他開始瞭自己的研究項目，研究心理活動的計算機建模（他原本稱之為“人工智能研究”，不久就改稱為“認知科學研究”）。1984年，侯世達受聘於密歇根大學，任心理學教授，同時負責人類認識研究。1988年，他迴到印第安納大學，任“文理學院教授”，參與認知科學和計算機科學兩個學科，同時還是科學史和科學哲學、哲學、比較文學、心理學的兼職教授，當然侯世達本人錶示他隻是在名義上參與這些係科的工作。2009年4月，侯世達被選為美國文理科學院院士，並成為美國哲學會會員。

侯世達曾說過他對“以計算機為中心的宅文化感到不適”。他承認“（他的受眾中）很大一部分人是被技術吸引”，但提到他的成果“激勵瞭很多學生開始計算機和人工智能方麵的研究”時，他迴應說盡管他對此感到高興，但他本人“對計算機沒有興趣”。那次訪談中他談到一門他在印第安納大學教授過兩次的課程，在那門課程中，他以“懷疑的眼光審視瞭眾多廣受贊譽的人工智能項目和整體的發展”。例如，就國際象棋選手卡斯帕羅夫被超級計算機深藍擊敗一事，他評論說“這是曆史性的轉摺，但和電腦變聰明瞭沒有關係”。
