But before leaving his much-loved home in North Yorkshire, Bryson insisted on taking one last trip around Britain, a sort of valedictory tour of the green and kindly island that had so long been his home. well with expectation as such, disappointment is perhaps all too natural... managed to extract from my dried up being a few laughs at the very beginning, very much due to my glorious mood in retrospect, but bored me considerably till the very end...esp. after a reading experience like Dorian Gray, most unfortunately...

Bill Bryson用极为细致的观察，幽默的语言和活跃的思维展示了英国最为真实的一面。最后读到他说“这个small island有哪里让他爱的如此深的”的答案时几乎泪奔，因为和我心里的答案完全一样：every bit of it, good and bad。
