After nearly two decades in Britain, Bill Bryson took the decision to move back to the States for a while, to let his kids experience life in another country, to give his wife the chance to shop until 10 p.m. seven nights a week, and, most of all, because he had read the 3.7 million Americans believed that they had been abducted by aliens at one time or another, and it was thus clear to him that his people needed him. But before leaving his much-loved home in North Yorkshire, Bryson insisted on taking one last trip around Britain, a sort of valedictory tour of the green and kindly island that had so long been his home. 如果是原版，大概可以給四星。因為中文版莫名其妙的照片扣一星。有功夫弄這些照片，不如實實在在地整理一張布萊森的旅行綫路圖，會更有助於讀者理解此書。看過環遊澳大利亞的那一本（http://book.douban.com/subject/4887595/）纔來看的這本。感覺不如前者，仔細思量，這似乎...

英文版在Kindle裏囤瞭多少年瞭沒開動，鳳凰版的中文版忽然到手瞭，纔讀瞭幾章就覺得翻譯得很不錯啊，雖然豆瓣評分居然低得匪夷所思。譯者的用詞傳神地體現瞭英式黑色幽默，各種細節處的諷刺和揶揄，每一個熱愛英劇or英式自黑的人都能體會吧～比如剛剛讀到的這一段，恨不得每...

書看瞭一半，還沒看完。真心希望齣版社能安排一張筆者環島去到各個城鎮的路綫圖。我之所以看的很慢，因為書裏提到的每一個地方，我不熟悉的地方，景點，我都在網上搜一下，看看到底是在英國的哪裏，風景是什麼樣。這樣能幫助我體會作者書中的描述。有些幽默諷刺的地方是好笑的...

幽默是好的，但是就單純地看這些自嘲，似乎也不是很好笑啊，可能是因為我沒有在英國生活過吧

2018-09: They say great artists are willing to give. Good writer too. Bryson is fun to read partly because he doesn't hide those embarrassing moments or those nasty thoughts of his. But this note is too long for the readers to keep the mood high to the end. He should have ended it at page 252, not 352, so no one would get exhausted and sad.

well with expectation as such, disappointment is perhaps all too natural... managed to extract from my dried up being a few laughs at the very beginning, very much due to my glorious mood in retrospect, but bored me considerably till the very end...esp. after a reading experience like Dorian Gray, most unfortunately...
