埃里克·R.沃尔夫（1923—1999年），出生于奥地利维也纳，1940年赴美，曾参与第二次世界大战；战争结束后于1951年获得美国哥伦比亚大学人类学博士学位，曾先后任教于伊利诺伊大学、耶鲁大学、芝加哥大学等著名学府。埃里克·R.沃尔夫是当代著名的人类学家，著作颇丰，知名作品有《农民社会》（Peasants）、《二十世纪的农民战争》（Peasant Wars of the Twentieth Century）等。本书被认为是他的代表作。译者贾士蘅，台湾大学历史系学士、考古人类学硕士，曾担任美国丹佛美术博物馆研究员，翻译作品有《英国史》《英国社会人类学》《英国社会史》《历史的再思考》《帝国的年代》《英国工人阶级的形成》等书。

我只读了皮货贸易一章，感觉翻译上应该存在不少问题。目前只发现两个小地方：一是P187最后一行“……发运到伏尔加河大拐弯处的保加利亚”，伏尔加河不流经保加利亚，我觉得作者不会搞错，很可能是翻译错了；二是这一部分中经常提到海狸，此外还有河狸、水獭、海獭，我上网查了...

#26 就这样肿着右眼读完了我的第一本anthropology-related的书。Geographic的描述和各种names of ethnicities的杂糅实在是太难啃了，也许配合Professor Wolf的课食用效果会更加。可惜没法上这门课，因为没那个本事（哭泣。
