This biography offers the first in-depth examination of his role in intellectual and educational development in modern China. 从五四，到兰克史学，再到筹办史语所，聚集起当时一批大佬，而强大如此人，也终于在乱世里浮浮沉沉，李庄一段看得悲伤。

王氏的剪裁手段真的是一绝，傅斯年这样的传主，任何一个试图勾勒其思想轨迹的人，若非功力超卓，肯定盲目乱引文。王的胜处在于议论妥帖之至，勾勒清晰可喜，让人赞叹学术文字之洗练洁净。

为作业而浏览，找不到中文译本只能看这个。除了作业需要的选段外都只是因为兴趣而大致泛读。先生年轻的时候就很厉害啊，个人感觉确实和毛细管作用里的文章风格极贴近了。
