Ethnographic truths are inherently partial - committed and incomplete. 强调多音部的同奏而非单一的声音。partial不意味着fictive，实则隐含着更多亟待挖掘的真相，民族志文本本身（不局限于writing）也是可供分析研究的对象。Rosaldo那章讲EP是如何在The Nuer中通过话术策略（譬如将自己塑造成一个深入险地的英雄，pratt章也有提到这点，以及将努尔人在殖民统治下的生活田园牧歌化的）树立民族志调查者的权威并消解知识生产过程中政治权力的影响，但他的刻意反过来暴露了这一点，很有趣的文本分析。
