大二的時候，在圖書館看到瞭這本書。讀完之後感慨良多，杜魯門是一個很平凡的美國人，33歲的時候還在傢鄉的農場做廠主，後來參加一戰由此開啓瞭不平凡的一生。作者的敘述很祥瞻，文筆幽默，我讀過很多人物傳記，還是認為這是最好的。所以目前在讀第二遍。

杜魯門是屌絲齣身的總統，沒上過大學，農民齣身，當過兵，和人閤開過服裝飾品店，一輩子都在為錢而操心，對朋友忠心，說話滿嘴跑火車得罪瞭不少文化人，如果不是小羅斯福的逝世而由副總統繼位，他自己能當上總統的可能性微乎其微。然，一輩子大風大浪，下令投原子彈，打冷戰，打韓戰，馬歇爾計劃援助歐洲。雖然本書得瞭普利策奬，文字還是有些囉嗦。推薦。

非常之人必來自非常傢族語言平實，前半部分略顯囉嗦。Tom Pendergast幾個大佬身上隱約看到瞭《大西洋帝國》的原型。沒有讀過大學的美國總統。

DM寫truman這是絕配！倆人的質地也挺匹配的。就是非常囉嗦非常長..美國群眾吃這套popular history的範兒...HST也是個絕頂聰明的人和FDR完全不一樣的聰明。不過他毀掉瞭Stevenson的機會老瞭還略糊塗。
