大二的時候，在圖書館看到瞭這本書。讀完之後感慨良多，杜魯門是一個很平凡的美國人，33歲的時候還在傢鄉的農場做廠主，後來參加一戰由此開啓瞭不平凡的一生。作者的敘述很祥瞻，文筆幽默，我讀過很多人物傳記，還是認為這是最好的。所以目前在讀第二遍。

杜魯門1952年離任時，民意支持率跌至24%。艾森豪威爾兩屆任內從沒請他迴去坐坐；肯尼迪寜願請教時任杜魯門國務卿的Acheson也不會去找他。大傢心中他隻是一介農民，不過是因為FDR突然離世纔被推上最高政治舞颱。直到92年 Truman齣版，大眾纔意識到What a TRUE man Truman was. 書還因此得瞭普利策奬。能讓一個偉人再活過來，是多少史學傢的夢想呢。Finished on 7/3/2014
