寫法略嫌重復，四和八精彩。基於contextualization、speech act以及更廣義的語言學/修辭學討論的方法論一種。斯金納健筆如椽，條分縷析的功夫、尤其是辨析他人多有所混淆的地方非常厲害。Intro結尾太有力，簡直是對語言、甚至對書寫最深情的告白。"The plea is to recognise that the pen is a mighty sword...We may be freer than we sometimes suppose."至於某個朝令夕改的國度，大約充斥著“paradiastolic redescription”吧。

This is a must-read for those who are interested in how to do intellectual history. Skinner explains what his historical contexualism is. He propounded an interesting explanation on the difference between intention and motivation. Intention is what one has in his/her mind when one does something. Motivation is the preceding event.

《政治學視域：方法篇》乃選輯斯大師有關思想史研究的精華之作，劍橋學派思想的能從幾篇典型的論文中找到原型，如《思想史研究的意蘊與理解》、《動機、意圖、及闡釋》等，文章結構清晰易懂，所要錶達的內容也能從作者所舉的現實例子中得到理解；其次，大師成文方法也很值得後輩學習，即文章通過與之思想相異者進行再辯論而成，從對方的觀點入手，提齣異議，進而提齣自己的觀點再加以論證最後總結厚實觀點；有些文章讀之，還有些無厘頭之感，但為瞭錶達他的意圖與動機，搬齣馬基雅維利或霍布斯作為擋箭也為嘗不可，這也算是一種成文的方法。本書對思想史晚輩的寫作、思考、邏輯性的培養具有很好的指導及方嚮性意義；文字樸素，錶達靈活，觀點鮮明乃本書一大特色，不愧是大師之作。
