评分老夫少妻、偷聽、僞裝、吃裏扒外等等，風俗喜劇的情節設置都占瞭。「造謠學校」的說法直到最後一場纔點齣（5.3: 215-225）。Joseph在得知有錢叔叔Oliver來後，讓僕人把Oliver僞裝成的窮親戚Stanley叫迴來，似乎錶明他還沒那麼僞善。
评分整個劇的高潮點在Joseph的敗露，但是沒有屈身求愛的高潮看得那麼爽。
