娜恩·谢泼德 Nan Shepherd (1893-1981)，英国作家、诗人，一直生活于苏格兰阿伯丁，曾在阿伯丁教育学院教授英国文学。她终生未婚，与山为伴，阿伯丁附近的凯恩戈姆山区遍布她的脚印，作品也都以大山为主题，包括散文、小说和诗集。管啸尘，1991年出生，湖北襄阳人，南京大学英语系毕业，从事翻译工作。

读这本书只缘于被作者的一句话打动：山巅犹如一杯美酒。读完之后，感觉是被一本书砸中，被一桶酒从头浇下。 然而正如美酒容易醉人的一样，这并不是一本容易读的书。为了叫午睡的儿子起床，中午我是不午睡的，等待闹铃时我就读这本书，多少次中午读着读着就睡着了，然后在闹铃声...  

这是我今年读过的最喜欢的自然随笔了。 娜恩·谢泼德用平实、质朴、温柔、细腻的文字描写大山和生命，也写出了我早就深有感触却难以付诸于文字表达的感受。 比如登山的时候毫无恐惧，事后想起来却一阵后怕。然而一旦真正重新走了回去，又会被同一种激情裹挟，变得“异常狂乱”...  

安娜·谢泼德（即娜恩·谢泼德），作家，大学老师，于1893年2月11号出生在阿伯丁附近的彼得库特东区韦斯特顿村（Westerton Cottage, East Peterculter）。她在家排第二，父亲叫约翰·谢泼德，是一名土木工程师，祖父母是来自斯特朗和德拉姆的农民；她的母亲叫简·史密斯·谢泼...
