偏文化輕哲學和政治，但對後現代主義的內在矛盾直言不諱

這本書是這套叢書裏含金量非常高的一本，直接改變瞭我認為理論性通識讀本中Oxford遜色於Routledge的看法。這本書的作者有成為獨立理論傢的潛質，他的核心立場是：後現代主義是最好的解構者，也是最差的建構者。由於它自身含有諸多無法解決的矛盾，所以它的時代已經過去，它必將遭到下一代的質疑和針對於它的理論更新。

摘取最重要的後現代理論，掃清後現代主義迷思，破除後現代盲目崇拜。批評後現代藝術品，尤其是講某幾件很有名的女性主義藝術品的部分讀起來真的太爽瞭，在傢拍腿大笑。隨後話鋒一轉，提點瞭很多後現代優秀的作品，以及結尾也點名介紹瞭後現代主義以外的優秀藝術傢。評論理論的部分像說書一樣，環環相扣讀的人透不過氣。確實是very short introduction，讀起來卻是最纍的一本。一旦讀完，一定達到豁然開朗的感受。

aVSI係列裏最差的一本，作者私貨太多，缺乏清晰的學科主綫脈絡，自身的觀點所占比重幾乎超過學科自身的介紹。aVSI係列的意義在於學科普及，而不是看作者發牢騷。作者對後現代主義毫不掩飾的敵意已經嚴重地影響到他對這個學科的認知。如果對後現代主義感興趣更推薦隔壁Belsey的post structuralism: a very short introduction
