psychedelic modernism & formalism par excellence，大概能代錶High Modernism的實驗精神，但Keene所說的“10-20年代的文學成就最終是屬於喬伊斯和普魯斯特而非斯坦因和路易阿拉貢的”也許不無道理，可能spectacular failure仍是最恰切的形容。和二十多年後FW做的事相似而不同，Stein沒有艾略特和喬伊斯的encylopedist野心，語言實驗主要關注語法，詞匯反而相當簡約。想讀Autobiography of ABT

果然Gertrude Stein畢竟是海明威的老師= = 感覺得到文筆的紮實和功底但是真的有些段落理解不能......

A poetic mimesis not of the ordinary objects but of the perceptual process. Very playful. A series of interior monologues. Words don't arouse our sensations anymore. Words themselves become our sensations or vise versa. The content isn't necessarily important anymore; the meaning is the making process itself.
