Ralph Franklin, the foremost scholar of Dickinson's manuscripts, has prepared an authoritative one-volume edition of all extant poems by Emily Dickinson - 1,789 poems in all, the largest number ever assembled. This reading edition derives from his three-volume work, The Poems of Emily Dickinson: Variorum Edition (1998), which contains approximately 2,500 sources for the poems. 读Emily Dickinson 的念头起源于《海洋饼干（又名飞黄腾达）》这部电影。当时赛马仔家境还很殷实，但当时就已通过Emily的这首诗表现出十多年后的无畏精神。 这个诗人的诗与上述的电影非常地相得益彰。
