Peter Ladefoged, one of the world's leading phoneticians, introduces the experimental phonetic techniques for describing the major phonetic characteristics of any language. Throughout the book there are also comments, written in a more anecdotal fashion, on Ladefoged's own fieldwork.

老師推薦用Praat分析phonetic transcription????用的工具書，還不錯，我參考瞭fricative的部分。整本書不厚所以不能說特彆詳細吧，有一些spectrogram的圖解。

《語音學教程》中沒大篇幅涉及的操作知識補充。如果能重新入門會把《語音學教程》和這本書一起看。對初學者來說隻知道知識性的東西卻不知道操作纔是真的不思而惘。
