原始佛学的教理不算复杂，因缘篇的“苦蕴缘起缘灭之中道”，五蕴篇的“五蕴无常-苦-非我”，此二法便可以解决一切法理上的困惑，此二法也是世尊在菩提树下所正觉之法，也是比丘证四果之关键，其余的业报、轮回、善恶趣、修行法等等众多概念都是和很多外道所共有的，世尊只是借其所悟将之赋予了新内涵。字面上理解虽不难，但想要有对之有direct knowledge，final knowledge，根除the underlying tendency，从经文中看起来，若不远离尘垢而出家修梵行是不可能的。
