A moderate version of realism: logic-history-custom-sociology as different forces that the judge consciously or subconsciously feel when deciding cases. To dance with tether, not completely free-style (different from the extremist in the realist camp). Cardozo J.'s advice: admit it, and be more blunt about it, more willing to succumb to the forces.
