對我來說這本書的重中之中並不是Calvino對他所選擇的那些經典的評論，因為它們中的一大部份我一無所知，最多知道個名字。但是本書的第一章卻是至關重要，乃至萬分後悔直到這個年齡才接觸到這本書。<Why Read the Classics?> 像是浩瀚書海中的燈塔，指明了一個方向。Classics在Calvino的定義下不僅僅限於大眾所知曉的經典，而是更加Personalise, 強調了個人對某本特定的書的感覺，或許有着強烈的共鳴，能夠多次地閱讀，每次閱讀都有不同的發現... 除了要閱讀那些眾所周知的Classic, 還需要列出自己的Classic List.
