非常值得一讀，條理清晰，遠比哲學傢寫的有關意識的書務實，不乏實證，語言淺顯但內容不膚淺，主要介紹瞭作者自己對意識的研究成果和假說：其假說和對意識的進化解釋比我所知的其他解釋更令人信服。遺憾的是書太短，對一些話題，比如說自我意識，沒有更深入的闡述。
