虽然最后升华主题的时候关于人类本性对于cosmopolitan value的追求有点牵强附会，还是觉得写的好好的一本这个城市的纪念。很少有城市有这么宏大又包容的史诗感，从古罗马到ottoman，到如今在东西方之间寻找并强化turk身份的游离状态，好美的故事，人类社会的一步步演化，我们的傲慢与偏见，贪婪与虚荣，梦想与野心，所有的人性都在这里被激发展现。异域的背景下其实这座城市离我们并没有想象中那么远。

这几个月读过最厚的书。惭愧地说是一周“啃完”式的阅读体验，体量和内容深度对于门外汉都有点疲惫。但so great to get well informed。Istanbul已加入旅行清单。
