5星推荐！！作者娓娓道来美利坚帝国历史：二战结束之前妥妥的colonial epmire，到二战结束之后的pointillist empire（pointillist原意是点描派，即名画大碗岛的星期天下午的画法）。第一部分给我补了补波多黎各和菲律宾群岛历史；第二部分则是作者综合多方面阐述美帝的“战后扩张”—化学合成材料、统一技术标准、英语独霸全球、还有日本西德英国等由美国战后驻军带来的经济文化腾飞（例：披头士和索尼）。就连最后的结论也都写得精彩：不是简单重述，而是看现在美国政坛里时不时出现的“帝国元素”。优秀的历史学家就是能把史料糅合出理论，优秀的作者更能把理论传达给普通大众。佩服！

第二本听完的书，符合美国历史学术的基本逻辑，提出观点，扩展观点，然后让你觉得原来这个很不明显的观点其实很重要，重要到你完全意识不到，但问题在于，合上这本书，你发些这些观点其实你本来是知道的。就是这种逻辑。。。反正学术嘛，注重的好像是知识点的串联，把他们串连成、误导成你以为自己不知道的样子就好了。
