乔治艾略特那一流的言情大约也就这样了。琐碎细腻。另外一个译本的名字更好，《东林怨》，不过也更像言情小说了。　　讨厌芭芭拉。讨厌到死。

刚刚才知道这本书还有另外一个译名《东林怨》，巧的是，两个月前刚刚读完这本书的我心绪难平，写下了一首更漏子，题目就取为《东林怨》，真是冥冥之中的巧合啊。更巧的是去图书馆还掉这本书后，我从网上买了一本二手《魂断东林》，扉页上题了几句话，正是本书译者庄绎传的笔记...

囫囵吞枣地算是看完了，主要还是不忍心细细看下去，太可怜了，不想虐待自己最近脆弱的心脏。最近为什么又开始玻璃心了呢，我应该狠狠嘲笑书中愚蠢的男女来着。算了，放纵爱恨也不错，有种歇斯底里的快感（“戒酒”中，以大喜大悲聊以取代醉生梦死，不然可能会被生生无聊死）。...

断断续续读了三个多月，终于读完了...每次读上两章就有想要扔书的冲动...实在是无法理解这么拖沓冗长的叙事，苍白单薄的人物，矫揉造作的对白，当年是如何让这部小说成为最畅销的sensation novel的...莫非当真是彼时的营销策略选的好...

第一部真正意义上看进去的原版小说一开始觉得女主神经质自作自受后来读到她死前对Carlyle的独白才领会到她人生的悲剧所在这也真的是一场最完美的赎罪了很喜欢书结尾的一句话 “Every good thing will time that we earnestly seek.”
