Second, fully revised edition of the vol. X of the SOR (out of print).
The history of Nepal down to the partition or the country into the three kingdoms of Kathmandu, Bhatgaon and Patan in c. 1480 is narrated on the basis of all the available documents: ancient chronicles, inscriptions, colophons of manuscripts etc. The peculiar calendrical system of Nepal is exhaustively discussed. Following a critical examination of the sources, several events of that period receive a quite new connotation. Special attention is paid to social and administrative conditions.
