an inviting and characteristic bio.white is skillful addressing Proust in a language cultivated and proper to express his own admiration,personal emotion and reserved respect to the artist.

White's perverse interest in Proust's homosexuality has completely turned this biography into a book of gossips. Nothing except Proust's gay aspect can you find in this book. But I don't understand what's the big deal about it.
