此書馮紀忠先生肯定讀過（Joedicke的導師居然就是Siegel；馮先生那本結構造型的書就是Siegel的）；與Frampton的現代建築史不同（類似阿多諾的文化産業批判）、與Colquhoun的也不同（作者注重設計手段與新觀念的聯係），這位德國建築史學傢注重的是技術、材料、建造的“進步”與建築創作的關係。他看賴特，總在看賴特房子的技術。這是中國學生缺乏瞭解的現代建築史視角。
