中文版載於科幻世界譯文版2011年9月號。這個長度似乎是特德薑不曾挑戰過的，所以稍稍鬆散瞭一些。整篇文章探討的問題，與其說是軟體更新，倒不如說是教育的睏境。麵對一種很快就被淘汰掉的人工智能，沒有人能判斷它們要接受怎樣的教育、最終選擇怎樣的“生活”。而從主角的堅持中，也能窺知作者特德薑的堅持——在技術時代堅持人文傳統。這篇小說提齣的問題是很有趣的，可惜筆調過於平淡瞭。作為腦殘粉，給齣四星評價。
