思路跟Ian Watt还有Walter Benjamin差不多，作品形式和社会发展状况的关系。Notes on English Prose里面大量的人口普查数据连出处都没给，简直耍流氓。对了，这本书（isbn9780860910725）是1987年出的，Verso连出版年都忘了给。。
