The Histories

Robin Waterfield is an author and translator. His many acclaimed translations for OWC include Plato's Republic and five other Plato translations, Plutarch, Herodotus, Aristotle, Xenophon and Euripides. Brian McGing has written articles on the Hellenistic period and recently completed a book on Polybius. He is Regius Professor of Greek at Trinity College Dublin.

上海三联本想出波里比阿的《通史》译本，现在也没有任何结果。希望有出版社引进，出简体字版。译者曾在英国念古典学的博士。  

经典的史书。如导读所说，波里比阿的作品在数千年的传播过程中多有散失与缺漏，留存下来的部分包括该译本的主要内容讲述的就是迦太基与罗马之间的前两次生死对决以及当时西方世界主要国家的一些历史发展。除了作为一部早期世界史之外，波里比阿《历史》的主旨相当明了，如他自...  

大陆的罗马史研究基本上处于初级阶段，语言能力不行，没几个学者会拉丁语，材料也丰富，基本上靠啃欧美学者的二手材料做研究，很多问题研究的不深入细致。 ...  

不知道英文版企鵝的人什麼想法，波里比阿一再強調普世史的屬性他們還把希臘化世界歷史的部分刪去那麼多，和網上的原書對比後真是怒不能已。希臘化歷史的第一手材料基本就來源於這部著作，反倒是羅馬方面布匿戰爭等等有一大堆相同題材。最可恨是節錄反倒還把波里比阿噴人的大段...
