Timothy Sauer 喬治梅森大學數學係教授。1982年畢業於加州大學伯剋利分校，師從著名數學傢Robin Hartshorne。他的主要研究領域為動力係統和數值分析。除本書外，還與人閤著有CHAOS: An Introduction to Dynamical Systems等書。Sauer 是SIAM Journal on Applied Dynamical Systems、Journal of Difference Equations and Applications和Physica D等學術期刊的編委。
