喜欢本书开篇的诗。本书主要从建筑本身的角度，探讨建筑具有的意义，浅而泛地叙述后并根据时间线介绍了一些案例。

作者的个人风格过于强烈了。言必称希腊，强调建筑中的文化成份，却不显式地涉及美学。对于非建筑的工科生来说，可能还需要一本关于 introduction 的 introduction。国内译本的名字“建筑与文化”比英文名更恰当一些。
