作者简介

尽管一开始就知道这本书不是死板的社会学研究或自以为是的个人游记，但还是没想到会这么好，好到在我整个看的过程中，心始终是沉着的。心沉不沉，几乎成了我判别东西好坏的唯一标准了。比如随便刷一下微信朋友圈，你都能找到一千篇胡扯中国社会的文章，一般都无需看内容，标题...

如何理解这个魔幻的中国，我在苦苦的需找答案……

本来带傲慢与偏见出门的，忘了，随手拿了这本。一翻开，哎真的比傲慢偏见简单太多了！！！看的速度那是嗖嗖的啊！看完中文再看英文最大的感受是，仿佛能直面何伟下笔时的情感。一个大老远的美国人，能够公平客观的看待那时候的中国社会，且愿意冷静剖开现象深入进行深层思考，也没有一点居高临下的优越感，确实让中国人心生好感吧。---看完中文版再看的英文版，依然被感动。

1996年的涪陵和2014年的南京相似而又不相似。我读这本书的反应本身则印证着这本书里的记载。

再读此书，真的觉得中国社会这十年真是剧烈剧烈的变化，现在回首十年前，仿佛是一个完全不同的社会形态。

Reading this book is an amazing trip，as if you live in Fuling with the author . Ho Wei says he describes a remote rive town，which is just a small part of China. However I think the humanity and personality of Chinese represented in the book are common. Anyway，this is a masterpiece and the touching text is beyond my poor English description.
