阿瑟·高頓（Arthur Golden），生於美國田納西州查塔努加（Chattanooga），本科畢業於哈佛大學藝術史係，專攻日本藝術。1980年，獲哥倫比亞大學日本史碩士學位，兼修中文。在北京大學進修一個夏季之後，他到東京工作。迴到美國後他在波士頓大學獲英文碩士學位。目前他與妻子和兩個孩子定居馬薩諸塞州布魯剋林。《藝伎迴憶錄》是其發錶的第一部長篇小說。

She will also acquire a magnanimous tutor and a venomous rival. Surviving the intrigues of her trade and the upheavals of war, the resourceful Sayuri is a romantic heroine on the order of Jane Eyre and Scarlett O'Hara. And Memoirs of a Geisha is a triumphant work - suspenseful, and utterly persuasive.

不論細節真假，一個在美國混瞭40年的藝妓肯定比較無敵的，因此我願意相信她的話。 女人何苦為難女人？可惜當人們處在一種封閉的環境下互相充滿敵意時，他們相互對立的思想走不瞭多遠的。小百閤最後確實勝利瞭，“可惡”的初桃也淪為瞭低等妓女。如果是個故事此時終結確實精彩，...

逆境就像一陣狂風， 從我們手中奪走本來無法被奪走的東西， 狂風過後， 我們看到是原形畢露的自己。 我學會瞭讓我性格裏的水凝滯結冰， 唯有用這種方法停止我思潮的自然流動， 我纔能忍受這等待。

現在是我kindle裏的長期住戶瞭，難得看完之後沒被我立即處理掉的小說類。留著，再讀。 好在 1）文字錶達很美，語言很巧妙 2）作者作為西方人，對東方式的情緒把握得很好 3）雖然小說有虛構的部分，但是情節很順暢（現在情節完全順暢的小說不多瞭） 4）作為娛樂性很好的小說，...

我不知道藝伎的“伎”字是什麼意思，我隻知道若寫成“妓”沒準被人笑話。。。 我說的是阿瑟·高頓的小說，我終於把它看完瞭。先看的電影，看的沒頭沒腦，莫名其妙，以為美國的大導演鬍亂竄改，後來纔明白原來不是。隻是這樣的講述一個特彆名族的特彆族群的故事，不用文字來...
