文学性高于学术性，当故事看挺好

感觉作者似乎不太喜欢中国，但仍然是一本了解当代中国很好的书。对于书中的故事，Benjamin L. Liebman的话似乎很适用："China is seeking to establish a system of controlled transparency, where some of the benefits of greater scrutiny of official action can be obtained without undermining confidence in the state or encouraging direct challenges to Party rule."

作者是个愤青但也很清楚现状，在前言里说这是subterranean tensions，CCP在下面几十年政权都是稳固的。我大概不会赞同他的乐观预测未来底层问题将会演变得到解决。阶层固化才是趋势。
