当年Momiliagno给这本书写的书评里面，也提到过这本书最大的优点，至少之一，就是带给人们一种时代感，依稀从罗马的背影中看到法西斯阴云笼罩笼罩下的欧洲，或是在苏拉的进军罗马之中看到当下时代同样的行动（大意如此，原文不太记得了）。或者说学界对这本书的兴趣和关注也就在于这种感觉吧。重点推荐下本书第1.2.4.29章。
