瑪麗·道格拉斯（Mary Douglas）英國社會人類學傢1921年3月25日齣生於意大利聖雷莫。從大學到博士畢業一直就讀於牛津大學。她早年曾受國際非洲協會（International African Institute）的資助，在比利時治下的剛果工作。她做過牛津大學和倫敦大學學院（University College of London）的人類學講師，在倫敦大學學習人類學並在其後成為該大學的社會人類學教授。1977年，她作為羅素賢人基金會（Russell Sage Foundation）的文化研究部主任前往美國。1981年她作為艾瓦隆基金（Avalon Foundation）贊助的人文學教授赴美國西北大學教學，1986年任普林斯頓大學的客座教授，她於2007年5月16日在英國倫敦去世。
