在校期间，她就常常在巴萨女子大学的校友杂志和地方新闻刊物投稿；并利用课余时间，到孤儿院和感化院做社会服务。而这段时间的所见所闻，也成为她日后写作《长腿叔叔》的最佳素材。1912年，韦伯斯特出版小说《长腿叔叔》。在她多项作品中，以《长腿叔叔》最受读者喜爱，此书后来拍成电影，由当时最受欢迎的女明星担任女主角，使小说的影响更加深入。

看的是英文版本。本來是不喜歡書信式的故事的。不過judy的少女情愫吸引了我。她和所謂[叔叔]的戀愛故事青澀真實。judy有jane eyre一樣堅強的品德。屬於[愛的教育]類型，文字也比較簡單。
