年前在香港买的中文版（麦田出版），赶上南海仲裁风波就一口气看完了。详尽周全，特别是历史部分的梳理，相当细致。书中小八卦很多，比如民国水陆地图审查委员会根本不知道James Shoal究竟何指，以为其在水面之上，故将其错译为“曾母滩”；而“九段线”的历史根基，看起来似乎也是相当薄弱，更多是民国学者“地图开疆”的战果。【当然，作者对于南海问题最终如何解决也没提出任何方案。从感情上看，可能比较喜欢古代的“南岛民族”模式吧，一哂。】

力推。门外汉极佳入门读物，非常适合临时抱佛脚用。比较客观（但BH的“真龙天子”是越南所以…）。撷取了很多轶事以及南海外交史上的八卦，文风也很戏谑，比如写解放军怎么把一个几平米的小石头用炸碎的珊瑚礁堆成一个8000平米的小岛…还是比较喜欢看英国人写这些东西，骨子里的幽默，处处笑而不语23333
