作者 | 柳原汉雅（Hanya Yanagihara），1974年生于洛杉矶，美籍日裔女作家。1995年于史密斯女子学院毕业后搬至纽约。2015年开始担任《纽约时报》旗下时尚杂志《T》主编。《渺小一生》是她的第二部长篇小说，荣获科克斯评论文学奖，入围布克奖、美国国家图书奖、国际IMPAC都柏林文学奖、橘子小说奖等四项文学大奖决选名单。

一開始只能在 Jude 身上看到自己。然後他開始變成主角，開始成為這幾個月來每天晚上會擔心的人。最後兩章要鼓起勇氣才能把書拿起，很想永遠讀下去，又不想和 Jude, Williem, Harold, Andy, Malcolm, JB 道別。Yanagihara 的語句淺顯卻感人至深，把有些不常見的心理活動刻劃得無比細膩。雖然總體殘忍，但有些地方未免還是有些理想化了。

我没办法给更高的分数。最后的两章太烦人，无论是所谓的happy years还是最后的自杀，都让我有点不耐烦。有时候会停下来怀疑，Willem和Jude的感情到底是什么，what if他们只停留在朋友是不是就足够了，有什么必要一定要成为爱人，那些性的折磨和无法跨越的障碍，好像只有车祸才能解决一样。到最后还是难过的哭了，没有退路吧。文笔优美刻意啰嗦，有点失衡，太多好朋友了，导致后来JB和MAL都没有什么重量。以及，每次细致描写自残的时候，都要皱眉。不想推荐给任何人看。
