极其简单的科普，涵盖了病毒研究中的重要分支：测序考古，疫情控制，生化反应及免疫调控。还有些新近的病毒学研究进展，以及全书特别注重病毒与人类和生物进化方面的思考。总体上衔接高中和专业课一年级水平，实验方法少，数据少，电镜照倒不少。大方向上把握比较准确，虽然第二版也是2015写的，但也涵盖了非典，中东，埃博拉，牛瘟等等，也写了些冠状病毒族的预言
