LARRY COLLINS (1929-2005) was born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, and is a graduate of Yale University. He was for more than ten years a foreign correspondent in North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, first for UPI and then for Newsweek, for which he was Paris Bureau chief.DOMINIQUE LAPIERRE was for many years senior reporter and editor for Paris Match. 用了近一个月的时间读完了厚厚的一本《巴黎烧了吗？》，当初买它说实话就是因为读库要搬仓库所以搞特价，四百多页的精装本16块钱就拿到手了，不得不说很多时候占便宜的心理胜过了对书本身的喜爱，既然买了就要读，因为提前做了一点准备，所以没有以往对大部头小说的恐惧和拒绝...

看完才明白一座城市对于一个国家可以如此重要，这种意义与斯大林格勒之于苏联的意义不同，后者是出于斯大林本人，是自上而下的，而巴黎对于法国的重要性则是自下而上的，而且波及范围不仅限于法国本身。可以说巴黎是世界人民的。
