比起其他young adult 的小说，这本可以说非常具有可读性。也顺应了风起云涌的“black lives matter"的运动。小说通过黑人少女Starr的角度，展现了女孩儿在成长中面临的关于种族问题的困惑和挣扎。最喜欢这本书的有力的结尾 “Khalil, I'll never forget. I'll never give up. I'll never be quiet. I promise." 不喜欢的地方是，有些地方太啰嗦了，有点絮絮叨叨的感觉。
