從Democracy Jounral看到瞭本書的review.作者的central argument是西方liberal民主的衰落和中産階級在經濟發展中的不受益以及在社會hierarchy中的下陷有著密切的關係。中國經濟崛起在全球範圍內對西方民主普世價值的挑戰也是重要因素。記者的寫作優點在於tangible, 實時性很強，但缺點在於邏輯不夠嚴謹，論證也略顯淺嘗輒止，興趣點過於繁雜缺乏明晰的論證係統性。總的來說可以一讀。

今年經濟學人和其他雜誌的年度推薦。是對於時下2017年的時事快議，文筆很是英倫範，寫得酣暢淋灕，冊子不厚，幾個小時可以翻完，結論有點兒驚悚——預測2020的戰爭和混亂。我們真是生活在一個轉摺點的有趣時代。

【UBC GPP591】一貫的筆法風格，預測戰爭的部分可讀性極高，整體連貫順暢，旁徵博引。但正如一係列這類書籍，更像是精彩易讀的literature review，而且是引證自己觀點的review，在causal effect上就鬆散些瞭。但對於liberal democrat的評論鞭策入裏。能夠辯證的討論希拉裏和奧巴馬等人的缺陷，在一眾睥睨trump的書籍裏著實難得。
