今年经济学人和其他杂志的年度推荐。是对于时下2017年的时事快议，文笔很是英伦范，写得酣畅淋漓，册子不厚，几个小时可以翻完，结论有点儿惊悚——预测2020的战争和混乱。我们真是生活在一个转折点的有趣时代。

文笔流畅，对国际政经局势介绍得比较全面，但流于表面，观点与分析深度不够明晰。和专业时评和论著相比，只能作为业余消遣，不可当真。

从Democracy Jounral看到了本书的review.作者的central argument是西方liberal民主的衰落和中产阶级在经济发展中的不受益以及在社会hierarchy中的下陷有着密切的关系。中国经济崛起在全球范围内对西方民主普世价值的挑战也是重要因素。记者的写作优点在于tangible, 实时性很强，但缺点在于逻辑不够严谨，论证也略显浅尝辄止，兴趣点过于繁杂缺乏明晰的论证系统性。总的来说可以一读。
